All of us would love to keep the same glowing look that we had in our face when we were in our 20s. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to stop the aging process.
As we age, many of us often experience sagging in the skin, wrinkles and other ill-effects such as skin that just doesn’t look as plump and shiny as it once did. Luckily, there are many non-surgical treatment options available today that can help us regain that youthful look without very invasive procedures.
One of the leading options in this regard is called a PDO thread lift. These dissolvable surgical sutures are inserted into your skin to help lift parts of your face up, give definition to certain areas and create plumper, shinier skin.
All of this is done in a very minimally-invasive way, in less than an hour and with a very short recovery period. In fact, you’re able to resume most of your daily activities the moment you leave your practitioner’s office.
In just a few weeks’ time, the full results from the procedure will show, and you will be happy with your revived look. If a provider uses inferior brands of PDO Threads however, it is possible that you may experience some after-effects of the procedure, including minor bruising and/or swelling and even bumps.
Below, we discuss some of these after-effects and when the bumps from PDO threads will go away.
If a provider uses inferior brands of PDO Threads however, it is possible that you may experience bumps on your face after a PDO threads procedure. This happens as a natural response to the insertion of a “foreign substance” into your skin. Bumps from PDO threads will usually go away naturally in a little bit of time. Most people will see the bumps start to fade in a few days and then completely dissipate about two weeks after your PDO threads procedure.

What Do PDO Threads Do?
PDO threads are inserted into your skin to achieve two main things.
First, they are intended to lift parts of your skin up, to mimic the results of a traditional facelift. They can be targeted to one area of your face, for instance to add definition to your lips or to help treat sagging under eyelids.
This is done through the use of barbed threads, which grab onto parts of your skin and actually lift it up.
Second, PDO threads will help to smooth out your skin and give it that youthful look well after the procedure itself is completed. This is done through the production of collagen.
A great benefit of PDO threads is that it stimulates the production of collagen in the area of the treatment — whether your practitioner used barbed threads or smooth threads. Your body naturally does this as it works to break down the PDO threads themselves.
Not only does this result in your skin being more elastic and smoother, it also helps the results of the procedure last longer.
What Can Happen After a PDO Threads Procedure?
After your PDO threads procedure is over, you’ll be allowed to resume just about all of your typical day-to-day activities.
There are some limitations that you will have, including on what types of medication you can take, how you should wash your face, what types of exercise you can engage in and more.
Your practitioner should give you a list of post-care instructions that will advise you of what to avoid in the weeks following your PDO threads procedure to not compromise the results and ensure that they last as long as possible.
It’s very possible that you will experience some minor swelling and/or bruising in your face around the site of the procedure. This is normal and can be treated with ice and certain over-the-counter medications, as advised by your practitioner.
If your provider used an inferior brand of PDO Thread, it’s also possible that you may experience bumps on your face after a PDO threads procedure. This happens as a natural response to the insertion of a “foreign substance” into your skin. These bumps never form when V Soft PDO Threads are used.
Most of the time, the formation of bumps is due to swelling, which can cause this minor side effect near where the PDO threads were inserted; fibrosis, which is the formation of scar tissue in the area near the threads; misplacement of the threads, which is rare, especially if you use a reputable provider; and infection, which is also rare.
When Will Bumps from PDO Threads Go Away?
Bumps from PDO threads will usually go away naturally in a little bit of time. Most people will see the bumps start to fade in a few days and then completely dissipate about two weeks after your PDO threads procedure. The same goes for any minor bruising and/or swelling that you might experience.
Following your practitioner’s post-procedure recommendations is key to reducing the amount of time that it takes for this to happen. If you still see bumps on your face more than two weeks after your PDO threads procedure, or if they are accompanied by a lot of redness and/or pain, then you should definitely follow-up with your practitioner to see if anything else needs to be done.
